GRAND WAZOO was formed in mid-1981 at St Kilda, Melbourne by Musician Arranger, Composer John Montesante, who still leads the band today .  John created an exceptional Australian Soul Orchestra and Concert band, which introduced Afro-American Soul hits and dance repertoires, as well as rare Soul gems, and Grand WaZoo band originals in that same brassy, big Soul style. Now, 43 years later Grand WaZoo remains THE BAND OF CHOICE for those who require superb Music, unrivaled entertainment value & first-class professionalism in Venues, Media, Festival, Concert, Major Events, Studio, Private or Corporate environments. You’ve seen the rest; COME BACK TO THE BEST!
GRAND WAZOO is Australia's legendary 13 piece Kings of Soul band, with an unsurpassed record for presenting the most entertaining and authentic Soul Music experience in the country, since 1981. Also a premium reading outfit of 10 musicians with 3 singers, the band can back other artists of any style or genre, in the vein of the Funk Brothers. The big, bold & brassy 13 piece Grand WaZoo provides vibrant musical excellence with an entertaining & authentic Soul Music experience. And the extensive repertoire means Grand WaZoo is able to create set lists for any and all occasions. This band, under the fine musical direction of John Montesante, pioneered Soul Music in Australia, and most groups that followed took inspiration from this mighty band, which is regarded as a Soul Institution.
